Hi Simon, Here's the detail about your bass from the file: serial: 89AM061 name: 20th Anniversary Model model: AM top: Burl Walnut accent: Vermilion body: Walnut back: Walnut shape: 20th Anniversary neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart scale: Not recorded! fingerboard: Ebony inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals side markers: bronze peghead: Crown pickups: AXY electronics: "20th Anniversary" volume x2, filter x2, 2-position Q-switch x2, 4-position rotary pickup selector switch, stereo/mono switch finish: clear gloss polyester backplates: brass hardware: polished brass originally made for: The Bass Centre (not recorded if LA or London, but I'll guess London) birthday: September 1, 1989 There is a curious note that says "was Jason Newsted" and I know he did get a 20th Anniversary model around that time. Maybe another one caught his eye? I dunno, but it is par tof the history, even if it's only a little bit of mystery. |

Mica, thank you very much for the information. It's great to be able to have those details.I am totally in love with this bass, and every time I plug in I learn more about it. I'm thrilled and very curious about the possible Jason Newsted connection.I read somewhere that he owned a pair of 20th Anniversary basses,I'm a big fan of Jason's and finding out that this WAS one of his would be the cherry on the whipped cream!.Ultimately, regardless of the mystery,I'm delighted and proud to be back in the Alembic fold and I thank you for your time. Simon. |

Yeah, I really don't know what the note was about. There's almost 0% chance that Jason owned the bass and that we sold it to Bass Centre London later. My best guess is that we started this bass for Jason, and that during the construction he selected another 20th Anniversary and so this was temporarily homeless but adopted by The Bass Centre. I'm glad to know that the note brought a smile to you! |
