Hello,

I bought a used Alembic from Chuck Levin's in Washington D.C. in the early 90's...it looks like a Series 1...no documentation on it, and the salesman (nice fellow) provided me with the basic info at the time...not really sure I was listening as well as I should have...I wanted that bass so bad and have loved having it...

It appears to be made for a fellow called Lionell Bruton...his name is still on the instrument...

The only number on the instrument is on the top end of the neck: 80 1684 USA

It had not been modified prior to my purchase and has not been modified since, so any information as to the year of the build, model type and number and any specifications would be a huge help...I am attaching photos...

Great work, and a great instrument!!! Thank you, one and all, for the exquisite stuff you do so well! With all my very best regards and wishes...

Thank you both :-) What a bass, more tonal opportunity and range than you can use in a lifetime, I still haven't touched them all. And yes, it sure looks and FEELS like walnut to me, but I want to hear from Mica to be sure...I have been known to be wrong LOL...wait 'til you hear me play...:-)

back: Walnut
neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 32" Medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: mother of pearl
pickups: 2 SC-1 with HX

Original owner was located in Wisconsin. Lionel was not the original owner, but he must have had it at one point.

Mica, thank you so very much! :-)

At your convenience, please contact me and confirm that I have indeed got this guitar registered under my name (I believe I successfully did so online not long after I submitted this request for details). Also, please let me know how one might go about the process of getting the Alembic shop to refurbish and perhaps modify it.

Eternally in love with this bass. Many thanks again, and all good wishes to you and everyone at Alembic...please continue the outstanding work!

Yup - got your registration on file now. But the email you registered with bounced :-( Can you email me directly and we can continue the discussion about refurbishing and any other modifications you want to have done.

User is no longer registered, which is a shame, as I have 80-1681, so we would be bass buds! My 84 was a walnut one, so I know how nice those are.
