Hi there,

Finally got round to doing some clips of my Alembic Elan 1990 6 string. The clip is five or six random runs with different pickup blend/tone/q filter.

The second clip is a random thing I was jamming for most of the week, using a bit of reverb and delay. It is called 'Her Two Moons' and is about boobs. There are many boobs in the sample but I wanted to get it down so I dont forget it. Thought you folks might be interested in it.

The album I just recorded is being mastered and finished off as we speak, there was some delay in getting the wind instruments down but I hope to be able to post the whole CD soon. On the CD you will be able to hear the Alembic 'in situe' as it were. My Vigier was used on the CD too.

Here are the samples then:

Two Moons is nice! It really shows off what an Alembic can sound like!

I love that crisp clear Alembic tone. Sounds like you have a really nice bass there.

I have to admit I have my puritan head on at the moment and can't persuade myself to use effects on my Alembic yet.
I did try a compressor limiter a while back when I first had the bass but didn't like the way it affected the tone when it kicked in so I just went back to just plugging the bass in to the amp pure and try to be more aware of the dynamics in my playing. But you seem to have used the delay to great effect.

Keep on Plucking.

Thanks for the kind comments. I know what you are saying about effects mate. I really never use them which is why I wanted to record this little clip so I dont forget it (i plan to do it again but a bit less rough around the edges at some point). I do however use a Boss LMB-3 a lot of the time. I set it so it is barely noticeable but like the limiter as 'speaker protection' live and the enhancer is useful on my other basses. The Q filter on the alembic makes up for it though. Engaging the two at once really hurts your ears!!

Cheers

Hi Dave,

I use Elixir strings which are amazing in my opinion. Have had the same set on my four string for many months and they sound brand new. Seriously, I got a new set to change them and when I did I realised they sounded the same so kept the old ones as spares.

The Alembic has them in .032-.130 sizes

On my 4 string however I prefer the super light .040-.100 gauge.

Cheers for the comments!
