Can the SF-2 gain pots, in this case the direct gain channel B, be cleaned out like the gain pots on a bass? Exercising them 40-50 times. I realize they are of different construction, but are the SF-2 pots sealed like the bass ones? My Direct gain seams to need this at every power up and there is an occasional dead spot ~ 4-5. Always hoping for the easy fix, or any ideas before I take her apart. Pete |

Nothing huh? I tightened the mounting nut ~1/8 on the direct gain pot. It wasn't loose, but the dropouts were happening while wiggling the pot up or down. Seams to have corrected the problems, for now? I'm wondering if the mounting acts as a ground for that part of the circuit. No schematic and was looking for a quick fix. Anyway for now at least, all is well in Super Filter Land. Pete |

Sorry Pete.. I did post by saying give them a good exercise but I think the 'File Locking' page came up and and I exited by mistake. Hope you get it working consistently. |

Thank you Terry, I did that in fact I had to do that on every power up? I did take the cover off and it looks as though the pots of a sealed variety. The one thing that was starting to happen more regularly is the drop out and by putting a small amount of downward pressure on the pot it alleviated the problem. Signal reappears. Almost like a cold solder joint or a loose ground. So I tightened the pot mount ever so slightly and it's been fine ever since. Not having the schematic I'm "assuming" and hoping it was a ground issue at the mount. Pete |

Yeah sounds like it, astounding that something so minor as a loose control can cause so much distain, after years of troubleshooting my own as well as other peoples gear it can still catch you out! |

Time will tell if this was all that was needed. I have just become so used to this unit that not having it working is just not an option! Yikes!! Having this minute problem put that in the forefront. Anyway back to making "The Tone" which I obsess over. Pete |
