Just left a rambling introduction in the relevant section so wont repeat it again, but would be great to know my new Bass's history. Many thanks in advance, Kerry |

Notice this section has not had any replies (older ones not just mine) - is it still active or does it usually take a while? |

Hi Kerry, welcome to the forum. Yes, to both of your questions (active section and it takes a while). I have searched and not found an earlier look-up on your bass, therefore please be patient. Mica, in Santa Rosa, looks these up from handwritten files when the opportunity allows and she wears many hats as I imagine everyone does at the Alembic office. In the meantime enjoy that beautiful bass I saw in your introduction! Best, Art |

Well Peter, I guess the moggy does have a fair amount of timber in its construction and again its hand made, but not sure this is the right section - don't want to get kicked off just yet lol |

Humm, well seems the "We update a few at a time and are attempting to do this nearly everyday' died some time ago as it a very long time since any were updated at all ? |

The build records are kept on cards in a filing cabinet... Mica looks them up when she can, but it's a small shop and she's a busy lady. If you'll post a couple pictures of the bass, the regular members would probably be able to nail all of the details of your build. |

Kerry When I first saw your post from September 30th and your last comments I thought you were referring to a request for information you made in September of 2014. Now that I've looked back I see it was only 8-days ago. As Art indicated earlier in the thread, Mica does an amazing number of things for a small company most of which are a lot more critical to ensuring the satisfaction of customers than going through old files and looking up information on basses that were purchased on the used market. I'll bet this isn't close to being in her job description but she does it because she (and the rest of her family) truly care about the people who purchase and play their instruments. Please be patient and when she isn't: helping someone design their dream bass, ensuring that custom orders are completed to exacting specifications; assisting a customer in overcoming technical issues or deciding whether to refurbish their bass, or doing 100 + other things, she will get that information to you. For now, enjoy the craftsmanship of what you have in your hands and can play and think about the many customers who have have waited 1 or more years for custom builds to be completed. |

Thanks both, but you missed the point i was making - i was NOT referring to my initial request (that would be far to optimistic I now realise) but to the fact that as I said the section title says "We update a few at a time and are attempting to do this nearly everyday' - clearly this is NOT the case. May have been at one time the intention, I am not doubting that. However it takes seconds to edit, and as it stands it creates an unrealistic expectation for now forum members, that in its turns does little for brand image. If you take the time to look you will see that last serial number reply was September 16, or approximately 24 days ago. As for photos, I did indeed post one in the introductions section (if thats the correct name) - I can see myself its maple as indeed the heading said, but it was more the date of manufacture and place of sale that interested me. Anyhow, appreciate everyone taking the time to help, thank you. Ps, is it me or does it take ages for everyone else to post on here, server appears extremely slow this side of the pond? |

The server is quite slow for everyone and it's often the case that one gets error messages when attempting to post. I believe they are working on upgrading. FYI it's also the case that photos that are posted mysteriously disappear and need to be reposted. |

OK, well as a few peeps have asked will attempt to post a few more photos, as you can see the left side of the front appear darker in some light, had I bought it new that would haver been a problem (i.e., would have sent it back) however as it was 1/5th of the cost of a new one and as its totally unmarked I am more than happy to live with it. |

Had never seen the page with the serial numbers... pretty cool. Too bad it isn't up to date but I imagine that would entail a lot of work and it looks like it needs to be done by someone with administrative capacity. |

HI Hammer, no its not the front door, just a normal internal door (to the corridor in that case). Guess the house is quite old, built 1650. |

I love old houses not just doors. I grew up in New England in a home built in the later 1700s and while a kid always felt that was old. Then as an adult visited Europe and stayed in homes that really were old. Where I currently live in the Midwest of the U.S. (Minnesota) any home which is more than 50 years old is considered old and people will buy propetries like that just to tear the house down and build something new. The same type of people who wouldn't appreciate the older, classic Alembics. |
