So a couple weeks ago, I began to notice some static-ey (I made it up) distortion coming through the speakers on the Bass Rig of Mass Destruction. It was at very low volume, and particularly noticeable on the low notes. By process of elimination, it seems the inputs on my F-1X are at fault... plugging and unplugging a couple times or wiggling the plug fixes it. I used a little De-Oxit on a pipe cleaner, which didn't really seem to do any better. Browsing around the FAQ section, I've uncovered this post, which seems to deal more with the outputs of an F-2B... http://alembic.com/club/messages/16271/16306.html?1107540904 Is this procedure all I need for my F-1X? Is it possible the Jacks are just worn out? They do feel a little worn. Just wondering. |

I had similar issues with my F1-X and I did what Mica offered in the link you cited. It needed to be done and did help with some issues I was having. However the main problem for me was that the tube was failing so I replaced it and haven't had any issues since. |

There's a link for the F-1X describing the same thing: http://alembic.com/club/messages/16271/16301.html?1107539284 but it's the effects return jack on that unit. It shows up when you either always have something in the effects loop or never have something in the effects loop. The jacks need exercise and don't like to be parked for extended periods of time. |

Interesting... Thanks Mica. Because I have a Mesa Walkabout amp that has that exact same condition, I keep a short patch cable connected between the effects send/return all the time. Naturally, I did the same to my F-1X before I racked it. |
