Is there any way to clean-up and/or polish the the std. bronze Alembic headstock logo? The logo on my new Series I is already tarnished/corroded and just plain looks like hell. Short of having Alembic either plate it or replace it with either a plated version or the $1K logo w/shell, can anything be done to make it look good without ruining the poly finish on the bass? Tarn-X anyone? LOL! Cheers, Kevin |

I've used Flitz metal cleaner and Q-tips on mine and it works just fine. |

The Series I probably has a sterling silver logo. They start with an antiqued finish so the relief shows up nicely. Go to a department store and get a Connoisseur brand or Haggerty brand silver polishing cloth. It will remove the tarnish from the flat areas, leaving the dark antiquing. It's soft and won't scratch the finish or the metal. |

Silver? I just thought it was bronze the way it tarnished. OK, will do...I'll get one of those cloths. Thanks. While we're on the subject, what do you do to care for the gold-plated hardware? The finish on my Orion hardware looks great, but if you breathe on it, it gets fine scratches. Short of taking the plates to the jeweler, what can be done to polish the gold? |

Gold doesn't tarnish, so you don't need to polish it really. Just keep it clean with a soft cloth. Connoisseur brand does make a gold cloth as well. The plating is 24K, so it's not hard. The Chrome plating on a Series I is super hard by contrast. |

This I know...even a clean guitar cloth scratched the gold. |
