Hey guys, my Orion 5 string looks absolutely bullet-proof in the control cavity, but for a long long time now the INPUT JACK wires keep rattling off somehow, its a huge pain because my trusty Alembic will short out intermittantly and then just die randomly, never a good thing.

I've taken the bass to a better repairman than Guitar Center (who has "fixed" it twice now...) but the new guy's stumped on the wiring because two or more wires have come off. The input jack wires look very brittle and weak compared to the rest of the cavity, anyone else had this problem or is this a fluke?

QUESTION: can someone please take a picture of their control cavity, specifically the input jack, and/or provide a schematic? Even a detailed listing of where the wires should go would be helpful. Hate to rush anyone but time is an issue, don't make me play my standard fender jazz!

thanks so much in advance this is a great forum full of information, and of course a great company!

You might put up a picture of yours as well.

shoot, I would but but it's at the shop now. I'll add a pic of the whole instrument just cause its so drop-dead gorgeous ;)

Also, don't want to give the impression this a huge rush, looking over my original post. I'm HOPING to have the bass back by next week, I'm resigned to not have it this weekend. Thanks again everyone

Does your jack look like this one or is it in a black plastic housing?

Hey folks, thanks for the help, but I just got a call from the repaiman and he said he played with it a bit more and figured it out. Figures right after I posted he'd call. Hopefully his soldering job will hold a little better than the last jobs.

Mica, the jack looks like the one in the picture if i remember correctly, i dont remember any black plastic housing. Hopefully it was just a bad/sloppy job by Guitar Center (imagine that) and this fix will hold. If not I'll come back here for advice.

Thanks again Mica and Bsee, and all at Alembic.

It might be useful to take a copy of Mica's picture with you when you go to the shop to pick up your bass.
