I just picked up an FX-1 preamp off ebay. I plugged it in and turned it on, or tried to. The power switch on the back is broken (the clamping ears on the guts are bent) and rotates freely, as oppsed to just moving up and down. So what I did for the interim is remove the switch, and jump the wires together so it's always "on". However after doing this the preamp still does not turn on. There is power getting to the back recepticle. Do my fellow Alemboids have any suggestions? I will probobly call Alembic soon, but really want to avoid shipping it to them unless neccesary. Thanks much everyone. |

And a word to the wise, this is the one time I did not ask the seller if everything was working (it was part of a package) because the deal was so good. This is why it was so good it seems. |

Have you checked back with the seller? They may know what the problem is? |

I did contact the sellers, "contact UPS" blah blah blah *smirk* However I discovered the fuse area, and wala! A replacement fuse (and a little trouble finding 500Ma fuses, they only had 1/2 amp fuses, silly me) and then the unit was working just fine. Hopefully blowing fuses won't be another problem, a sign of something more serious. *crosses fingers* It's sweet sounding. Have only used it in the studio so far and look forward to using it to move some air :D |
