Drew, welcome to the club and congrats on getting the Epic. It may have some cosmetic issues but I'll bet the great tone is there.

P.S. Care to fill us in on the username? That's pretty different.

Hey Richbass939, and thanks for the welcome. and thanks for the congrats. its really amazing. the warwick tone i achieved for years was quite thrilling, but this is just sick!!! The cosmetic issues can be overlooked certainly... I am currently considdering a complete overhaul... but who knows. the character is hardly comparable.

The user name. splatbabylon came from a theology class in college. i just invisioned our creator kind of "splating" us into creation, it got a laught, stuck, and then became my email address in college, and just kinda remained. I have recieved some criticism for it from some COMPLETELY DETERMINED extremists. but i continue to be light hearted about the whole thing. i mean no harm.

cheers

Drew,
Believe me, I wasn't asking about your name so I could lead you toward a hole, watch you fall in it, and throw big rocks down on you. I do understand that there are people out there who are so serious that they would attack because of the name you chose. We in this club are generally a light-hearted, tolerant, just-be-yourself, bunch of folks. I was asking because it's different. Obviously, I didn't get terribly creative with my username.
On the cosmetic issues, my first Epic has some buckle rash that I decided to leave alone. It can't be seen by an audience and the entire bass look great from the front. I love it for what it is, warts and all.
I'm sure you will enjoy it here in the club. There is a huge amount of technical expertise and experience with Alembics, other brands of basses and guitars (yes, we even have 6-string, hi-freqs around here), and other equipment. Just about anything you need or want to know can be found here. Bikes and beer show up regularly, too. Again, welcome and congrats.
Rich
P.S. You might want to start a thread in the "Introductions" section. You could even link to this thread if you wish. I'm sure a lot of members will want to extend a "welcome" to you. I don't know how many people look in the Serial Number section for new members. I think it is normally for people wanting to get a build record and history on their Alembics.

Hi Drew,

Can you check the serial number again? There's an extra digit in the last section. Thanks!
