By the way I purchased this guitar on ebay, the neck is cracked and one of the pickups doesn't work, but I am totally in love anyway.

Any build info will be cherished for a lifetime.

Hi David,

Here's the details from the instrument file about your California Special guitar:

top: Quilted Maple
body: Maple, 1.8" thick
neck: 3-piece Maple
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid oval inlays
bridge: Floyd Rose trem
nut: Kahler finger lock
pickups: SSH
controls: volume, filter, on/off switch for each pickup, mono output
finish: Red Sunburst
birthday: not recorded, but likley late June, 1988
originally made for Rokkomann, Japan

Even though the serial number is a "C" this is considered a California Special guitar. The electronics are recorded as CS, so this was made after we made the named model.

To test the pickups function, you can swap the connector of the non-functioning one for one that is functioning. This will tell you if the pickup is dead or if there is a problem in the wiring. Replacement pickups are available, and we can repair the electronics, so it's entirely possible to get your guitar back in original playing condition.
