I am the original owner (nearly 20 years) of this beautiful bass. I bought it at a shop just south of Chicago, can't remember the name. It's a Spoiler (I think) but seems slightly different than others I've seen. It has something like a 31" scale. I was told by the shop owner that it was made for the NAMM show and different than other basses of this model. I'd really like to know what wood the top of the body is made of, etc. I've tried several times and ways to find out the true story on this great instrument without success, I would really appreciate any info you could find, thanks a bunch your effort. Hi David; welcome to the board. While you're waiting for your serial number request, you can determine the scale length by measuring from the nut to the 12th fret, then multiplying that distance times 2. While Alembic builds instruments with custom order scale lengths, the three "standards" are long scale, 34", medium scale, 32", and short scale, 30.75". |

Thanks Dave for the kind welcome! This is a cool forum. The scale of my Persuader is "30.75". I will post some pics very soon, it's a beautiful bass. |

Hi David, Here's the details I found in your instrument file: Persuader PSB4 87P4661 top: Macassar Ebony accent laminate: Maple body: Mahogany neck: Purpleheart and Maple*, 30.75" short scale fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid oval inlays peghead veneers: Macassar Ebony pickups: PJZ controls: 2 volume, 1 filter, mono output birthday: December 2, 1987 originally made for: Make'n Music, IL *It's not clear in the record if the neck is mostly Purplheart or mostly Maple, but I'm sure you could clear this up for me. Seems like you purchased it from the shop that bought it. From the dates, it might have been on display at a NAMM show (these are held in January), but that's just not something that would get recorded in the file. This is not a typical Persuader. If you can post a photo of it in the Showcase, I can tell you if the body shape/peghead shape are custom or typical. |
