Hi Wilfred, Here's what I found in the file for this guitar: Series II - IILG6 79-1492 top and back: Mahogany body: Mahogany neck: Maple and Purpleheart, 25.5" long scale fingerboard: Ebony with mother of pearl inlays peghead veneers: Mahogany pickups: SC-1 and HX controls: Series II birthday: December 20, 1979 originally made for: not recorded Before either of the registered owners had it, it was for sale used at the Guitar Exchange in MD. Then it was for sale used at Washington Music in MD. This guitar has 2 registered owners, neither one was the original owner. It was in New York and Colorado. In 1991 the guitar was sent here for repair. We installed threaded metal inserts on the backplate and the pickup selector switch plate. There was some repair work done to the preamp card, it wasn't offering effective low-frequency hum cancelling. This was not the same thign as what we call "the upgrade" now. Is this guitar in your collection? If you're able to supply some photos, that would be cool, since a Mahogany top and back is pretty unusual. |

Hi Mica, thanks alot for the info! This guitar is in The Netherlands, being offered for sale by a shop that specialises in high-end acoustic guitars. I'm watching this, hoping for the price to go down eventually. There's several good pics to be found on their eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.nl/very-Rare-and-early-1979-Alembic-Series-2-Guitar_W0QQitemZ150104810869QQihZ005QQcategoryZ2384QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Wilfred |

The top looks nice. The closeup of the point suggests a refinish might be a consideration. |
