Hi Adam,

Here's the details I found in the file for your bass:

body: Solid Koa
neck: 3-piece Maple, 32" medium scale
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid oval inlays
finish: clear polyester
birthday: August 26, 1982
originally made for: Guitar Center, San Fransico, CA

The only regisiered owner for this bass is you. When you registered the bass, you said it was painted white. Is it still?

Hi Mica,

Yes it is white now. It was done in Sydney by luthier Adam Phillips. When I bought it it was in really bad condition asthetically, and I had bought it specifically for that 80's Prince sound so I thought what the heck, and had it funkafied. This was before I fell in love with it... so I'm not sure if I did the right thing now. Anyway it is now looks better at least.
Only thing that is missing is the logo from the headstock which I had tried to get from you through Karl at the Bassplayer in Sydney Australia in the late 90's but we never followed through. It now resides with me in Zagreb Croatia. Any chance of getting one for it would be great! I can send pics via email to u if need be.

Adam.

Hi Adam, welcome to the board! I believe it is the case that Alembic does not ship logos without an instrument attached.

Hi Dave, While I was working as manager at The Bassplayer in Australia, we were told by the good people at Alembic that all we had to do was send a photo of the headstock without the logo and one would be sent out. Unless there has been a change in policy! The thing is, that the logo would make it 'real'. Especially to people here in Croatia who are not as familiar with these basses. I'm constantly having to explain what it is. I play in a very successful band here in Croatia and would love for it to look right especially for the videos! The other option for me is to send my 'baby' to Alembic for a complete restoration if that is at all possible.

Alembic does indeed do restorations. I'm not an expert, so I have no idea what effect, if any, the current white finish would have on a restoration effort. You may want to give them a call if you're seriously considering it.
