Hey! Just joined the Alembic club with my first bass, would like to get any info I could.

It's an 85 (I think) Persuader, serial number 85P3767.

Thanks!

Hi John,

Here's what was in the file for your bass:

Persuader PMB4 85P3767

top: Bird's-eye Maple
body: Mahogany
neck: Maple, 32" medium scale
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid oval inlays
pickups: PJJB
controls: 2 volume, 1 filter, mono output
originally made for: Northern Kingdom Music, ME
birthday: October 22, 1985

The original owner purchased this bass on December 20, 1985 and lived in Maine. There's no other history to report on this bass.

Wow.

The only thing I can say is that I'm totally awestruck.

After owning several Hofner's, Ric's, and Fenders I've become accustomed to being very happy if I got a response to any question I asked within 2-3 weeks. I post my first question on the Alembic board and have an answer within 2 HOURS! Impressed is not the word....

Now another couple of questions (hope this is the right place)

1) Is it possible to order a reprint of the owners manual for my bass or get an electronic copy or anything like that?

2) Is it possible to "re-register" or update the registration to show me as the new owner? Is that something you like folks to do?

Thanks again for everything, I have no doubt I made the right decision in going with the Alembic!

Welcome, John. (Is your name symbolic of a 4001 Ric?)

Hello (yes I'm British) I played and Alembic in a music shop (that's what we call a store in the UK) fell in love but far too expensive for me to aford at the time....Thank you E-BAY I've got one now and know nothing at all about it,not even the name (Epic ect.) all I can tell you is she sings like an angel. It's a 6-string serial No.

@ 4001 - congrats on the purchase!

Let's be honest - serial number requests are low priority, and normally Mica can find a little time about once every month to search the paper files that they keep. Alembic is a fairly small operation, and work on the instruments does take priority. But the pride they take in their product shines through: you get pretty much the same treatment as a second-hand owner (which doesn't put any money in their pockets) that you would get when you buy a brand new Alembic.

If you check the main page of this section you will notice the caption saying "Next round of files to be pulled about ..."

***

@ markrc1964 - could you start a new thread for your request? [ooops - you already have!]
