I just want to go public with a VERY BIG thank you to the folks in Santa Rosa. I brought my new Further in for a little tweaking. As I had posted on my FTC thread, I wanted the string spacing widened a bit. James & I huddled over the neck and went over what I was looking for - then he went to work. I have to say, he makes cutting a new nut from a brass blank look easy. I suspect it might not go so smoothly if I tried it. While I was there, I mentioned to Susan that I'd like to add an internal dimmer for the LEDs. Susan picks up the phone, calls Ron, and poof! the dimmer was installed in no time. After James was finished and the guitar strung and tuned, it played like a dream. The dimmer allows me to set the brightness just the way I like it, a bit more subdued than full on. I look at my Further and it amazes me that it's perfect. No blemishes, nothing crooked - heck even the bird tailpiece is centered! There is nothing whatsoever about this guitar that doesn't meet, if not exceed, my wildest expectations! The wait was well worth it. So I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Alembic who worked on this guitar and especially thank Susan, Ron, James, Mary, Bill, Tony, and Jason (I hope I didn't forget anyone) for the amazing service and support you guys showed this afternoon. Bill, tgo (Message edited by lbpesq on June 27, 2007) |

Yup, that kind of service is one of the perks of Alembic ownership. The first fall I owned my SCSS the neck developed a terrifying stringsward bow. Panicked, I called the Mothership and within seconds Mica was on the other end of the line. She calmed me down and explained that variable humidity (it's generally dryish in Minnesota in the autumn and was that year) could cause such a problem. She further explained (most charmingly) that "the wood just isn't used to being a bass yet." She asked me to send the bass to Santa Rosa for a heat reset of the neck. When it came back to me, the neck was perfect, it was in a better case than I had sent it in, with the tools that Guitar Center had lost and a new set of strings. Now that's customer service! Paul |
