I'm the owner of this month's (April 2003)custom Rogue 5 with the Zebrawood top & back. I waited nearly 5 months for this beautiful machine to arrive and every moment of the wait was worth it! After subjecting poor Susan to several hours on the phone while contemplating design decisions, this instrument arrived exactly as we discussed. It IS my dream bass! Everything I ever wanted in an Alembic! From the gorgeous Zebrawood top & back, the nickel plated hardware, the "Keebler Elfin" headstock, the outstanding signature electronics to the shaved neck .. perfect! I've used it on several gigs and the sound borders on the fantastic; deep clear lows, midrange punch, and a singing high end that cuts right through the guitarist's half stack. The feel is sleek, slim and perfectly balanced, a player's delight! This bass played in conjunction with my Spyder bass brings the crowd to it's knees in awe and admiration (hehe!). I feel like the luckiest bassist alive to be able to own and play 2 of Alembic's finest accomplishments!

Steve, I must confess: I fell in love with your bass. Now I know that when I get rich enough, I'll order a beauty very similar to yours - with two differences, though: cocobolo top and standard Rogue/Europa elecs. But the rest... Oh man... That's what I want! *droooool*
And that sweet flatsawn zebrawood... The Spoiler I had an opportunity to try out (and fall in love with) in one of the music stores in Warsaw had a similar top, I believe. Stunning. I definitely want something like that on my dream single-pick-up Spoiler 4, which I'm also going to get when I get rich enough! ;-) *drool some more*

Great Bass Steve!
I hope it brings many hours of bass playing enjoyment. There are only a handful of things is this life that can stand up to that experience, I know how you feel. Good job, and good for you.

Congratulations Steve,

It's a real beauty. Like Earl said, few things match that great feeling of owning a custom tailored "Rolls Royce" Alembic Bass.
Enjoy!
