Hi all-

Longtime Alembic player, first time poster. I'm looking to purchase a new hardshell case for my 96 Essence 5-string, and was wondering if there are any recommendations. Will it fit into an SKB or Gator case? Are there cases designed to fit my bass specifically?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

You can order a hardshell case from any Alembic dealer. Tell them you've got a 5-string Essence. These are in stock and retail for $350 for the newest heavy-duty style. There may be a few of the previous version available for the retail of $305. The previous ones had a thinner wooden shell. All out cases are plush lined and form-fit to the body shape and have a lidded accessories compartment.

The Essence is small enough that it will fit in many cases. Usually they are a little too big, which is fine for hand carrying, but not so great if you need to ship it anywhere.

Some other members will probably chime in with other recommendations for you.

Hi Jack,
Welcome to the club!
I got a Coffin case for my Epic 5 string for ~$99 at Guitar Center. Decent quality, killer looks, sortof a generic fit. Best way to buy would be to bring your Essence to the store that stocks cases, and give it a try. SKB and Gator (~$125+) are made for Fender, and may have too much room around the slimmer Essence body.
Good Luck.
