We got a 1989 Elan 5-string in our store the other day without any information, and can't identify the wood it's made from. I've looked at the wood samples on Alembic's site and on this forum and can't conclusively tell what it's made out of. Someone in another thread suggested I post here. Anybody want to offer their opinion? Here's the details from the instrument file: 89H5454 HLB5 Elan bass top: Figured Walnut accent: none body: Maple through body neck: 7-piece Maple and Purpleheart, 34" long scale, custom flatter feel on carving fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid inlays, custom dimensions 1.75 x 2.725 pickups: Alembic PJ controls: "Elan" volume, pan, filter, Q-switch, mono output birthday: not recorded, but likely early July, 1989 originally made for: Massimino Music No ownership or repair history. |
