Recently purchased off ebay. Would like build record. Searched serial # and found this bass to have some history: http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/719.html First vintage wineburst finish. Would like to add a Q-switch but I don't want to take away from it's heritage. Any suggestions? Thanks...Joel

Hi Joel,

Here's the details I found in the file:

top: Bird's-eye Maple
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple with 4 Walnut pinstripes
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
side markers: inlaid aluminum dots
peghead shape: 3+2 Orion
body shape: Orion, tummy and elbow shaping
body thickness: 1.75"
pickups: 2 MXY56
controls: "Essence" volume, pan, filter, mono output
backplate: plastic
finish: Vintage Wineburst (first one!)
birthday: June 12, 2002
originally made for: Steve's Music

Funny note on workorder - the original name for this color was going to be "Sunset" but we changed it once we saw how it turned out.

Right now the bass operates like it has a Q-switch on all the time - the Q is preset on the filter control. Adding a Q-switch will allow you to get the flat filter response. If you think the bass has too aggressive of an attack, then add the switch.
