Hi guys, I've been playing bass for a while now, but have never played (or even seen) an Alembic up close - although I,d love one. But can somebody explain why they have power supplies - I haven't seen any other bass that does. Sorry, newbie question! Cheers.

The Series electronics use power supplies because they require a fair amount of power. While you can use batteries to power a Series instrument they will only last somewhere between 20 to 40 hours.

The other electronics packages are all battery powered and have a battery life typical to that of other active instruments. For me they last anywhere around a year or two depending upon how often and how long I play.

Kevin.

if you want to see two Alembic basses up close, come along to PJ Molloy's on friday 13th february where my band Big Tuna will be playing.

I'll be using my fretless rogue and my signature deluxe. Neither have series electronics so they don't need the seperate powere supply but they sure do sound good;-)

Graeme

edit. - if you do make it along, be sure to introduce yourself.
