Show us some pictures. There are legitimate instruments out there with both company names on them. |

Allen: Welcome to the club and congrats on your guitar. It sounds like you may have a Blackknife. These were actually produced by Modulus, not Alembic. Modulus and Alembic had close ties. When Modulus first started up they had a deal where Modulus made necks and Alembic built a bass using the Modulus graphite neck. Some of the earlier Blackknife guitars carried the Alembic name per an agreement with Alembic, but were manufactured entirely by Modulus. Still, these were kick-ass guitars. If you post a pic there are people in this forum who can likely provide more info. You can also try Modulus, but don't get your hopes up. I've recently tried several times to contact them, both by telephone and email, to get some simple info about a Modulus neck that I picked up. The company has never responded to my numerous attempts. As Bill and Adriaan have suggested, the Blackknife necks were made by Modulus with our brand name on them as well. We didn't participate in the building of this guitar. In order to compile more information about these instruments, you're welcome to email me (address in my profile) more pictures and the serial number of the guitar. I will share what I tell or estimate from the pictures. Like, from the looks of this image, the top looks like Maple with perhaps a Mahogany body. How do you like the guitar? |
