I had my first gig with my new band on the 10th. We played at a little restaurant/bar in Davis, CA, where I am currently in school. We play a relatively eclectic mix of funk/reggae/soul/rock/ska/etc, all highly danceable, good booty-shakin' music! I had thought our music sounded tight and was pretty fun to listen to, but this being our first gig I was a bit nervous.

It went just about as smoothly as a first gig can go! At one point we probably had around 150+ people crammed into this little restaurant, and I was later told that there was standing room only as they had pushed the tables out of the way to make a dance floor and that people were overflowing out the front door trying to get inside. The manager wants us to come back and turn this into a weekly gig. The best part was when an acquaintance of mine, an exceptionally talented musician who I have a great amount of respect for, came up to me in between sets to complement me on holding down the groove and on the sound of my rig. I was playing my MK V Deluxe through an m-pulse 600 on top of a mesa boogie 210 and 215. We got a lot of complements that night, but to get the praise of someone I respect... that was a humbling moment! :D
