Apparently my guitar 75-018 is actually 75-o18 (an "o" instead of a zero)based on what I've learned here. I am curious: does anybody out there also have an "o" numbered guitar? Presumably there are at least 17 others. Does anybody know the story of the o's? It seems, based on the response I got in the History/Serial request page that this (these) instruments are something of a mystery - even to the fine folks at the Mothership. Surely one of us out there knows the story?

Hmm, I never thought about it (even though I saw your earlier posts), but I think I am in possession of one as well - mine is an "AC" which apparently means that it was made for export to Canada, it is also a '75, and it also has the "o"! It's even more confusing because it's a doubleneck and each headstock is stamped differently - one 75, one AC - but both give the number, o25, though like yours it looks like 025. I'm sorry I don't have any news to contribute, just wanted to let you know you're not alone! |

David: I'm afraid I can't shed any light on the O'mystery, but I sure would love to see some pics of your guitar. I've never seen that early an Alembic with 6-on-one-side tuners like a Strat before. Bill, the guitar one |

Me too, Bill - though I am quite the novice when it comes to Alembic instruments. I sent some pix off to Rick Turner and he was only able to say that it is a Series 1 with what looks like to him a BecVar pick guard - which I hope is a good thing. Here's the pix - I posted them a while back in the serial number/history forum which is where I learned it was an o. (Message edited by mica on April 15, 2009) |
