I've posed this question via email, but didn't receive a response (perhaps I directed it to the wrong address?), and have been watching my spam folder as well. In any event, one of the knobs on my SF-2 has appeared to have broken. The entire shaft of the pot will come out if the unit is tipped, revealing a cylindrical shaft with a flat surface near the end (that looks like it would accomodate a set screw, although one doesn't appear to be present). The knob (which controls the damping ratio) works fine aside from the obvious concern. My question is whether there is an easy fix, or if the pot needs to be replaced completely. If so can I buy one from Alembic, or would it require a trip back to the mothership? I feel pretty confident in my repair abilities, but if there is something tricky to it that isn't obvious, I'll bite the bullet.

Well, you've got a broken pot for sure. There's a chance the knob is perfectly fine.

You'll have to desolder the broken pot, then solder in the new one. The only trick is that there's several connections, and you'll need to use solder wick or a desoldering iron.

You'll also need to take the knob off the broken shaft and install it on the new pot. There's instructions for this in the FAQ.

To order the pot, the best thing to do is call us at 7075232611 since email isn't the best way to share credit card details.

Thanks Mica! Very much appreciated! I've got a solder wick, and a solder sucker, so I would think I am probably covered. I'll take a closer look at the guts and make sure it looks like something I can handle. Once again, many thanks.
