I have the original instrument wood card, but was wondering what other history was on file for my guitar. Also I was wondering what electronics were originally installed on the Orion. I believe the previous owner had installed an Alembic filter.

Realized that previous owner had made a post about my guitar. Identified electronics problem, and solution. Looking to find out if he had ever upgraded the electronics as suggested. He did mention adding a bass filter, unsure where this came from.

Thanks Dave!

I had purchased the guitar from a coworker several years back who is triodecr on this site. He put it under the showcase section, and also had spoke with Mica about RF interference in the electronics. I took possession of the guitar shortly after this, however I am not 100% sure that he had followed through with the replacement. I know he had replaced the electronics, I am just unsure if the bass filter he mentioned was for this fix, or what was done.
I just found the original receipt tucked inside the case this morning. Was purchased as new at Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center MD. in '03 for $2032, and in '05 triodecr purchased it for ~$2000. I took possession shortly after and paid $1600 in installments. I have to say that this guitar will stay in my family, and hopefully have some siblings of it's own in the future!
I am interested in how many of this style were built, and any interesting facts regarding the orion. Definitely the single point in my inspiration as a guitarist in the last 20 years, and will be handed down to my daughter as a sentimental piece.

Hi Shane. Welcome. From the sound of your postings you've already got the Alembic "bug".
Enjoy and Play it Healthy!

Based on the previous owner's description in this thread, the original electronics were Volume, Pickup Selector Switch, Bass, and Treble; and the Bass and Treble controls have since been replaced with a Low Pass Filter and a Q Switch.

Thus I'm guessing the controls look different now than they do in the pictures I linked above.

The low pass filter and Q switch were not added to fix the RF problem; these were added as an upgrade. Supposedly, different parts were purchased to fix the RF problem.

When Mica gets to this thread and pulls the card for this guitar, she may be able to shed a more definitive light.

Thanks Dave i did not see the post where he was selling before. Yes the controls are different now. The filter and sound overall is amazing on this guitar. I was also wondering what tuners were originally installed? There are gotoh currently installed and I love them.

Hi Shane, I have an orion which I upgraded from bass & treble to filter & Q-switch and it is a great sound. From re-reading the link Dave posted. this is is the guitar I was considering buying a few years ago. In the end it didn't happen for me but I got one later that same year.

The Orion is a great guitar, I hope you get on really well with it. I've used it quite a lot when I was touring and with the single filter, it's really easy to use live and get a useable variety of clean sounds.
