Hello Mica, I am unsure if it is required or not but.... Can I get the price and availability for a 240V transformer for an F-2B that I have just purchased on eBay USA. I would like to have the unit neat and not rely on an external transformer in the rack. Man I cannot wait to get the F-2B and get my fretless series 1 singing through it. Hope you have a good weekend. slawie |

Slawie - you can guarantee that Alembic can do a better job than needing an external transformer. this thread details the minor internal change to swap voltages. Graeme |

Thanks Graeme, I will give it a try when I get it. As it is an older F-2B I can only hope the instructions apply. Gee I love this club! Everyone I have come across is willing to help. slawie |

Slawie, I bought an 1976 F-2B on Ebay USA many years ago. What I did: Let it send to Alembic from the seller. Alembic changed the voltage to 240 Volt and sent it to me to Germany. The amp is working without any problems for many yeras now! Harald |

Thanks Harald, The F-2B has already shipped to my friend who will forward it on to me in Australia. I do not want to ship it around any more than I have to. The chances of it being damaged or lost are too great for me to risk. I did not think of sending it back to Alembic. Graemes link to the thread makes it look fairly easy to do myself. As I am an electrician (from long ago) the instructions are fairly clear. Thanks for your advice. slawie |

Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread - but for any other Aussies looking for a good deal on an F2B, Bass People has one in their stock clearance for A$1390. That's a brand new unit with full warranty, etc. http://basspeople.cart.net.au/details/2230696.html |

Well I have just opened the F-2B and there are only two wires for the primary of the transformer (both black). Looks like I will need to buy a replacement. slawie |

Hey Mica I left you an email. I need to get a Sprague Capacitor for my F-2B Do you think your Dad has one stashed away or an old NFG F-2B that you (he) can christmas tree for the part? Also I would like to purchase a 240V transformer for the above. I am keen to get this project underway. Let me know if it is at all possible. Regards slawie |
