I was practicing last night and sounding pretty darn good if I say so myself. After about an hour, feeling very pleased with my remarkable skill, I found my wife in another room. I asked if she could hear me. Wife: "yeah, I heard you" Me: "well, how was it?" Wife: "it sounded like someone playing a bass" Me: "what did you think?" Wife: "I didn't hear anything that sucked" I'll take that as a positive. Not sucking is good, right? |

One of the the best compliments I ever received from Senior Management was a few years ago when I first started messing around with my Roland GR-33 guitar synth. One of the first patches I incorporated into some songs with my band was an organ. Upon hearing a recording of the rehearsal, my wife told me she didn't like the organ sound. A few days later, I had a Band (as in "The Band") CD on the stereo. My wife said that she didn't like the organ on the CD which, she said, sounded just like my synth organ. I said, "you mean I sound like Garth Hudson? Thank you!" Bill, tgo |

Well that's better than, "It sounds like every other time you are up there playing". Another favorite of hers is, "No I won't be going to the gig with you tonight. Why should I? It sounds just the same as the stuff you play at home". I should qualify this with the fact that we have been married 27 yrs and we met through my drummer at the time. During all of this time she has put up with the noise and even encouraged it. Not to mention she said get whatever you want when I ordered my Series 1. I really can't ask for more. Keith |

You are blessed but I would not use that response to her questions. You know, those shoes don't suck. or This meal doesn't suck. or Your dress doesn't have the suck factor of that last outfit. Now I'm single and don't enjoy the blessings of matrimony so what do I know. Heck she hasn't moved you out to the garage yet right? |

I sometimes get: "Do you HAVE to play the same part over and over and over?" "Yes - It's called PRACTICING!" I recently got a great quote from a guy at work. Yesterday I had to interupt Al's break and talk shop with him, after apologizing for my rudeness he said; "It is always a pleasure to sit down with a good bassist" (Al isn't a musician but has listened to several recordings that I have done.) He made my day! I think that his quote is T-Shirt material! :-D |

Danno, never one to take good advice, tonight after dinner I thanked Debi like aways and added it didn't suck. You should have seen the look. Good thing she has a sense of humor. |

Love means never forgetting to duck and cover. I've heard that my grandfathers used to say " that was as good as a meal". Give Deb a big hug from all of us. |

I got the greatest compliment from my wife a couple of weeks ago when she organised her work night out to be at one of my gigs. Sandra and her colleagues were up dancing all night - you don't get much better than that. Graeme |

Update: I am not a guitar player by any stretch of the imagination. Last night I was noodling around with my Strat. My wife, without any prompting, says "That was nice. It sounded kinda lounge jazzy." Lounge jazzy must be a new genre. Then for good measure, whilst smiling, she added "it didn't suck" |

I never take my wife to gigs anymore. While I am playing some sleeze bag tries to pick her up. A couple of times she was dancing with guys and claims it was all innocent. I replied to her yeah innocent on your behalf but I would not trust any dudes that come to our gigs. A couple of times I gave a shout out during a song while her dance partner was getting too close. We have some gay friends that I let her dance with. slawie |

Slawie, at least you can keep an eye on things. Years ago now, at gigs our wives and girlfriends would take off for another bar across town and come back late in the last set. I don't blame them in a way as they had seen and heard our thing plenty. God only knows what they got up to across town but they always came back! JP |
