I'm picking up my brand new bass, and I bid my farewells, and head my journey for home.

After I enter the house with my bass, I am on heaven and with unbelief "It's finally home!!!"
My phone is blowing up, my emails popping with messages from my family and friends.

After finally settling down with all my calls, and emails it's time for me to add my leather strap locks to the Toma_Hawk.

I get my drill gun out the garage, and assemble it with a hex screw bit.

As I drill the screw onto the ebony wood of the bass, I am thinking to myself (This bass is too beautiful to drill into...), but I continue to screw by starting very slowly -- turning the screw on the wood as a surgeon performing an major operation.

As I continue to screw after about 3/8th down into the wood, I increased the torque, then all of a sudden the screw head breaks off...

LOL!!!!

That ebony wood is very hard, so after carefully removing the bad screw with a lock wrench, and without any difficulty nor without hitch, or a scratch, I changed the drill with a 3/32" "carbon steel" drill bit to create small pilot holes before adding the leather lock screws.

To make a long story short, my leather strap locks were permanent and successfully fastened and looking good.

Man, that was a nerving situation, I will never forget, and I just knew something was bound to happen to me, after receiving something so cool.

But, I have no regrets performing my own strap harnessing, because I wanted to be the first to "ride" this special bass.

The wood is hard!
"DOWN BOY!!!" LOL!

Peace and Love,

Hal-
