Just put a deposit on a Spyder 8, would love to find out as much information about its history and build specs etc as possible. Thanks.

Kym, you will love it.
It is such a comfortable bass. It is by far, my favorite shape.
And yes, you will be surprised once you plug it in!

Congratulations! And don't forget the pictures!

Congrats! One of my dreams is for an 8-string Alembic - someday!

I used to own an Exploiter (same shape as the Spyder) - my one word of advice is to be careful walking around with it - I dinged the pointy end of mine several times on doorjambs!

Harry is absolutely right...
Damn you, doorjambs...

Thanks all for the supportive posts...now I REALLY can't wait to get this baby home!! I have heard that they are well balanced. I am already dreaming of getting a Spyder 4 to keep the 8 company...some day!

Well, finally got it, had it for just over a week now. Took a little longer than first expected, but definetly worth the wait, what an awesome instrument. Just feels so right to play, standing or sitting, and the tone...

A few pics taken by the store before I got it home. Enjoy.

NICE! That's beautiful and I'll bet it sounds spectacular! Congratulations Kym. Play it Healthy! Art

BTW, did it come with the original Alembic card with specifications? If so, these will be the same details that are supplied by this request thread. Please feel free to add your pictures to our Showcase (most likely the Custom Basses section where I found other Spyder basses).

Hi Kym,

Here's the details from the file:

top: Flame Maple
body: Walnut
back: Flame Maple
neck: 7-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 34" long
peghead shape: Ent Cone
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: mother of pearl:
LEDs: red
pickups: AXY
controls: volume x2, filter x2, Q-switch x2, stereo/mono switch, LED operation switch, stereo/mono output
originally made for: Greenquare Music, Australia
birthday: July 7, 2003

It's not in the file, but I think this bass was in a magazine ad arranged by the Australian importer, Greensquare Music.
