Just purchased this hand-signed 1993 Spectrum from Steve Miller's personal collection. Would like to receive the entire data sheet, work order, etc... anything and everything documented about this guitar (if possible, anything proving Mr. Miller bought it). Ser # is 93M7927. I would like hard copies mailed if possible.

Thank you so much!!!Mark

Mark,
Welcome to the forum. Congratulations, it sounds like a great guitar! Pictures please. Mica will be able to give you build information when the file is located. I believe that due to privacy reasons Alembic is not at liberty to discuss previously registered owners. The provenance that you are seeking should come from your current seller if available. While you're waiting for the lookup please enjoy all the great information available here and the wonderful group that makes up our community.
Play it Healthy,

Art,

Thanks for the kind welcome! I'll post pics once I get it back from the local Luthier. After I picked it up I immediately took it to him to put a clear lacquer coat of the autograph to protect the signature for all eternity! He's also doing a set up. Pics will be forthcoming for sure!

It makes sense what you say about privacy, though the only thing I could think of that would be touchy info would be price information, credit card info, and address of original owner. I would think lineage (meaning name only) would be ok to share and very cool to track!

Anyways - Mica, any info and background on the instrument that you can share would be most appreciated. BTW, I've never known much about Alembic before researching this instrument, other than Jerry Garcia and John Entwistle played them. After having played the instrument, and after having spoke to Mica and Mary on the phone today, I can see the attraction and draw to this company. I got a very positive feeling from our phone conversation - felt like I was talking to a friend, not doing business! Much appreciated, especially amidst this world of corporate door closing and bowing to the almighty dollar.

Mark, I have a Steve Miller item on my desk for you. I have sent you an email. You may like this! Yes, so nice to deal with a company that has heart. Robert, on his FTC thread (Factory to Customer), said it most eloquently in a post earlier today speaking about Alembic, "They are really true artists..not just bass builders...cause they build instruments with mind, knowledge, art, and soul.". Again welcome, Art

Now that's what I call a guitar!!!! I don't recall seeing many of the spectrum guitars about, they seem rarer than the California specials that pop up now and again.

An alembic with three pickups, I presume 5 position pickup switch, yeah it must have a great variety of easy to reach tones.

Hi Mica,

It's been about 4 months, and I see others have been responded to. I'm wondering if this one might have gotten overlooked?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mica,

Has this been passed over? I submitted this request in March, and it's been 8 months, and I see others have gotten responses for their requests that were submitted after mine.

Can you please give me an update? Thanks! Mark.

You're right - I printed my current check list out in July, so your post was listed as July. It's not a perfect system, I admit. In any event, here's the details from the file:

MLG6 Spectrum guitar
top: Rosewood
accent: Maple pinstripe
body: Mahogany
body shape: Europa/Spectrum
peghead shape: Spectrum inline
neck: 3-piece Maple with 2 Walnut pinstripes
scale: 25.5" long scale
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: STR-STR-HG
controls: volume, filter, Q-switch, 5-way pickup selector, mono sidemounted output
originally made for: Steve Miller
birthday: September 28, 1993

Steve is the only previously registered owner of this guitar.
