If you want the best nostalgic, 60’s sound for your bass, in my opinion, go here and bid on this worthy rig: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3704465159&category=10171 I am currently living up to my handle, collecting all the components for my new rig, or I would keep my mouth shut and this amp would be mine. If this amp is as straight as is looks in the pics, I would have no problem shelling out $1,500++ on it, and consider the trucking a minor expense ($100 to $250, depending on the trip). I bought a pair of 200S bottoms off eBay a few years back, and I would buy more, if I spotted them. This is the only straight 2000S bottom I have ever seen on eBay, and I have looked almost every day for the last three or four years. When I was a kid, this is what all the big name bassists used. A rich kid in Modesto, CA had a dual bottom 200S and a Rick. He was a jerk, but was worshipped regularly, and laid even more. I was washing dishes after school and ended up buying a dual-bottomed Acoustic 370 when I was in the Army the next year. I love those, too! If someone here buys this, please let me know how the bottom sounds. Also, make sure they wrap the bottom heavily in plastic wrap so moisture is kept from the speakers during their trip. At the moment, I wish I was well-off Nigel and keeping my mouth shut, but, what is bad for me, will certainly be good for someone else, and it should be an Alembic brother. May the bid be with you . . . |
