Hi here is a pic and a link to my new axe...I'm wondering what the added electronics are. A little different then most Spoilers I've seen.

You got the Spoiler that was on eBay for the last couple weeks! The seller wasn't very helpful when I asked about the additional switches. They certainly weren't put there by Alembic. Also, the pickup screw are installed wrong. Still it looks like a great bass and a good way to get started with Alembics.

If you can post a picture of what's in the electronics cavity, I can at least tell you if the extra things were added by us. At first glance, I'm doubtful, since the switches and the mounting hardware all differ from what we normally use.

Thanks ya'll for ur attentiveness. Here r some pics of the cavity and the alleged infiltrators :-)
The big pot alien by sound is an on/off type of filter when switched on and turned up, the higher ends are manifested. The small toggle 3 pole two way switch seems to be a type of boost. The pot is wired to the switch and the northern brown module whereas the toggle is wired to the north and south brown modules. Red lining on the fun meter :-) p.s. the pot is not rusted as it appears in the lower pic.

Here's what I found in the instrument file:

body: Solid Koa
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 32" medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: AXY
controls: "Spoiler" volume, 4-position pickup selector, filter, 2-position Q-switch, mono output
originally made for: Swissvale Music
birthday: November 24, 1982

That's all there is in the file.

The extra switches are not ones that we put in, but the rest of the electronics seems pretty typical for its age. The Q-switch would have originally been located where the added pot is now from the looks of things.

Since the serial number is only stamped on the end of the fingerboard, I'd ask that you also take a Sharpie and scribe it either under one of the pickups or on one of those expansive plains under the backplate so it's not lost in the future, even innocently refretting. Thanks!
