My 10 year old F1-X now randomly loses gain abruptly - goes to about 1/2 volume level. It seems to be some sort of mechanical connection - if I bang on the unit or crank up the volume knob and hit a string to 'jar' the rig, it pops back to normal operation. I have cleaned all the 1/4 in jacks, but not touched the PCB or anything inside - yet.
Any ideas from factory or users out there to point me to a known weak spot? I love this unit but it is killing me on stage now, and it is bordering on 'unreliable'. HELP!

Was your cleaning the mechanical cleaning described here?

If you've tried the mechanical cleaning, then you probably need to have the effects return jack replaced. There's no charge to test the preamp if you send it in to us. We will proceed with up to $75 in repairs while it's on the test bench to turn it around faster.
