on the featured custom, nov 01,(12string wonder) it has s/II guts, w/mellow filters, what are those? ,,, a mellower filter perhaps?... and if you run across anymore pics of oldies lying around,(ask your dad) please post. thanks ....... keavin#12.

Hi Keavin,

Sorry it took me a couple of days to get you an answer. The mellow filters are specifically for guitars, and produce a less harsh result than the low pass filters alone, especially when the low-pass is tuned to a high frequency. They do this by having a very gentle roll off, abour 3dB/octave. My dad describes the sound as "mellow" so we always called them mellow filters.

For reference, our low-pass filters roll off at 12dB/octave and regular passive tone controls are usually around 6dB.

I won't be asking dad for any old photos, it's not his bag baby. I post interesting pictures as I run across them.
