I know this is a 1977. The head stock is broken clean at the top of the neck. It's still attached, but the break is clean. I'd like to know what I should do about this? Also I'd like to know a little about the guitar. Thanks in advance Denny |

Alembic actually designs the scarf joint so that they usually break at the joint and they can then repair it for you. Email Mica. Good luck! Dave |

It can be fixed. One of the members here Keavin has an early Series bass that has been decapitated a number of times and is still laying down some serious grooves. Hopefully he will see the thread and give you some reassurance. jazzyvee |

Thanks for the great advice. I had other folks recommend NOT using gorilla glue because of it's characteristic expansion. What say you all about titebond original? |

We would repair with titebond and clamp with the original cauls to get a snug fit. Repairs of this nature are typically inexpensive, ranging from $75-350 depending on the severity. |

What do you think would cause something like that to happen? Trauma, poor environmental conditions, or something else? |

If I had to guess ( which I do have to) It's a face fall off of a guitar stand. All guitars are susceptable to this kind of damage. This is why you need to take extraordinary care while using these, or any fine instruements. |

Hi Dennis, Here's what I found in the records for your bass: top: Schedua accent: none body: Mahogany back: Schedua neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart scale length: 34" long fingerboard: Ebony inlays: mother of pearl originally sold to: Rothchild (out distributor at the time) birthday: September 8, 1977 (virgo) The bass was sold the Washington Music Center in March of 1978. They sent it to us for repairs in June. The power supply had dinged up the bass because it wasn't secured in the compartment when it was shipped to us, so in addition to the high fret (3rd/4th G string), we had to do some finish repairs. Looks like we were nice and did the finish repair under warranty since they had to send it in so soon for some abnormality with the frets. |
