Hi all,

I recently picked-up a 2008 SCD with front laser and side LEDs (both in blue). The lasers are fine but I've had a few problems with the side LEDs. The toggle switch that activates the lights is a 3 way unit - first position is off, second position is side LEDs only, and third position is side lights and front lasers. When activating the side LEDs one of two problems occurs: either just the first five (frets 3,5,7,9 and 12) lights illuminate; or, all lights illuminate but extremely dimly (not really visible if there's any natural or room lighting in play). I had the Gallery (London) take a look and the situation was resolved for around a week. Unfortunately, it's now returned. In position three, the lasers are illuminated faultlessly, however, the problem with the side LEDs remains (either just 5 of the 10 LEDs illuminate, or all come on very dimly). I've tried the usual fix (activate the switch 50 times or more etc.) but with no resolution of the problem.

Any advice or observations would be gratefully received, it's not a major problem but frustrating nonetheless. Moreso as it's really the side LEDs that get most use (the lasers are super bright!)

Thanks and very best wishes, Loz

Email me a picture of the electronics cavity, especially at the resistors by the 3-position switch. It's about the only thing we can think of right away that might cause the conditions you are observing that isn't a failure of one of the LEDs. Please include the serial number of your bass when you send me the photo.

Do you have any idea what the Gallery did that resolved it temporarily?

Hi Mica, thanks for this - I'll speak with the Gallery later today to try to find out how the problem was initially addressed. I'll also email with the photograph requested and serial later today or early tomorrow

Hi Lawrence,

I've received the picture, and I'll get back with you after I study it and consult with my dad.
