Well, so far for the custom order, at least for a while that is. This previously loved specimen is in perfect condition and next weekend I will have to persuade her to come home with me. It's a 1991 EvH Signature model with a maple body and walnut top. I already have a fitting name for her: Yin-Yang! I hope she will be a good friend to my Orion... |

Ooooo....Nice! That body style works really well with the crown headstock. The sizing looks well balanced too. |

@ keavin: Yes, that's a body contour, should make it a very comfortable instrument to play. I'm lucky enough to say that it'll be my second Alembic, while the first came only last January! The wish for a custom is still there, but for obvious reasons that just has to wait a little longer! @ malthumb: Thanx! |

Cool bass! That maple body and neck-thru construction will make for some killer sustain and presence. Is that bird a medium scale, it kinda looks it to me. Enjoy! BTW, Orions definitely play well with others! |

congratulations Wilfred ! Nice evh model. You will have a lot of fun with it. I know because I own 2 similar ones (a 4 and a 5 evh, check the showcase) Ps: Yes Reid, that is a medium scale. Greetings from Belgium Jan |

Thanks, Reid and Jan, for your positive remarks. I'm actually not completely sure if it's a maple body, could be ash also, I've asked for the serial# so I can ask Mica or Val for the specs and birthday of this beautiful bass. Still have to wait a whole week before I can hold her in my arms unfortunately... It's a medium scale indeed, and the electronics are kinda like a 'tuned down' series I (9V battery) with added on/off switch (if I understand correctly). Really looking forward to my rendez-vous with this dark/light = yin-yang beauty! |

Once you get it, of course, we'll need a better photo or two of that body contour. Just a head's up :-) |

Once I've got her, I will start posting pictures - including detailed ones of the body contour - like there is no tomorrow! Yes, I'm buying it from Edwin van Huik himself, once again it's been a great pleasure. The pictures certainly have that trademark 'got a not-so-good digicam that I want to replace but unfortunately I haven't had the chance yet' look about them. But they sure leave something to the imagination 'till the moment you actually come to pick the instrument up. That's nice, isn't it? |
