79-1298 8 strings bass was sold few years ago at Bunny Bass shop.
I asked it at that time, but someone carried away.

The bass is my favorite construction.
Short Scale 8 strings with Fan head
Mac.Ebony Standard Omega body

I want to know the info.
If the current owner will part from it, I can't stop my passion !

Eiji,
I can't help you locate 79-1298, but, I have a question and I know that you have a lot of knowledge. This is the second Omega that I have seen in the last couple of weeks that appears to have a strap button in the centre of the Omega. Have you seen many of these? Is it a factory location? My '76 has strap buttons on each side of the Omega which gives the option of a lot of different angles.

Eiji, that is one beautiful bass!!!!

Kenn, I think the other bass you refer to is mine, and yes strap button in the omega is original. What makes it even more unusual is that the other button is located at the neck heel instead of the upper horn. I thought it was weird because the SI I owned prior to this one had a button on each side too. One of the first things I checked for when I picked up my bass was drill holes, but the Koa core is unmolested.

Hi Kenn, Pace,
I don't know it was original or not in the omega.
The bass was made as 5 strings SSB, but it converted to 4 strings, and 8 strings.
I can only say another strap button was located at the neck heel.
the back shot is here.
It has no battery cavity.

I think the button in the omega is better effect for the balance, especially for 8 tuners.

My 77' 5 strings LSG Omega has 2 buttons on each side.

And now you seem to be going to start for your dream Eiji. I wish you will be able to find the bass but can you find any short scale 8string set?

No problem about the strings.
I use bassic 4 string set for fundamental, and additional octave strings are prepared each single strings or part from 8, 12 strings set.

My Hamer B12S has D'Addario EXL 220S for fundamental, EXL 170-12 for octave strings now.

I got only set for short scale 12 strings set by Curt Mangan, but rare to find.
