All, for those of you following my new custom thread you may not be surprised that I need to offload my current Rogue as payment day approaches: Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3727268355 |

Mica/Susan/Anyone?!!, I have now had two people who know their Alembics question whether the wood is Lacewood. Could you please confirm? The Serial Number is 96Q10295. Thanks so much, Sean. PS: The head stock has a different grain to the body as well, so have attached another photo of it:

I would guess walnut from looking at that body, but I'm no expert. -Bob |

Mica, Could you also let me know the rough weight of a Rogue? I don't have a scale and it doesn't appear on the spec sheets. Hope you had a nice long weekend :-) Thanks & Regards, Sean. |

I'd have guessed California walnut. Pretty wood, too. Bill |

We are back in the offices today after the Memorial Day weekend. The file for 96Q10295 shows Vermilion as the top laminate for the bass. If it is Vermilion, it's sure gone brownie (which Vermilion does do). The peghead veneer looks like a browned out Vermilion, but the body does have bit of a Walnut look to it. You could remove the bridge pickup and see if the color is more red where the "sun doesn't shine" to help confirm. It's certainly not Lacewood. I can't take a guess on how much your particular bass weighs. Does one of your neighbors have a bathroom scale? You can weigh yourself then yourself with the bass to calculate the weight. We don't put the weight on the spec sheets where there are lots of options - the woods influence the weight so much. Good luck with your auction! |

Thanks Mica -- It's amazing to compare this colour with the vermillion that we've been discussing in the club lately. It does explain the grain pattern. The auction appears to be going well -- and I am looking forward to getting my new Rogue soon - any updates/photos of the inlay work? :-) http://alembic.com/club/messages/631/9279.html Kind Regards, Sean. |
