The bidding got up fairly high the last time it was listed, but it never hit the reserve. In general, prices seem to be going up a bit. There have been a few specimens that recently sold for much more than I would have anticipated. This one is a SC standard with an upgraded neck and a cool top... appears to be in great condition. For somebody who just wants a short scale Alembic I'd say $3500+ (but I suspect his reserve is still higher than that). But if this happens to have the exact specs you are looking for, it would be cheaper to pay a premium for this rather than commission a new build. This has a nice top, but the neck is what (I think) sets it apart from most SCs (the Mahogany will give it a warmer sound). |
