Given that the last 3 short scales I've looked at have been scams, what do people think about this one? I know its been up before but don't remember if it sold or the bidding never got high enough to meet the reserve. Does anyone remember the location of the first attempt to sell? Canton, MS which is currently listed doesn't sound familar.

Wow. The top and neck lams on that bass are gorgeous.

Can't help you on the auction details, but just had to comment on those woods.

I believe this on to be on the level. I spoke with the owner last time it was up on EBay and I almost bought it, but opted for a '77 long scale. $3300 is a great price. However, I never got to the point of authenticating ownership, e.g. asking for serial number from owner and then request build info and ownership from Alembic.

It's gone already. Seems to me it's one of the heavier ones as I recall. Anyway it's not short in the beauty department.

That was a super bargain at that price. I'd expect at least $4K for that bass, if not $4500. Seems like the seller either changed his mind or decided to do the deal off of ebay to save the fees.

I don't think it's gone as in sold per se. It was only up for about two hours with one bid that was $1,300 below the buy it now price and didn't meet the reserve requirements. Either sellers remorse or another scam.
