Just bought my first Alembic. It is a 1995 Epic with the Flamed Walnut upper body deck, and was represented as mint condition. Well, it is mint, there is not a mark on this bass, and the metals are bright and shiny!! I got a good deal too. The question now- I see that the walnut front and the mahogany back are what I call open grain, and the neck has the usual seen satin poly. What, besides a clean dry rag, should I be putting on this body? I would think that a guitar polish would get down into the grain, and would be something I should not do. I got the neck tools, but not the owners manual, but maybe a call to Mica might get me this important manual. Thanks for your input on this, Bruce |

Hi Bruce; congrats on the Epic! The FAQ on finish care is here. The owner's manual is here. Lots of other info in our FAQ and Must Reads sections. Enjoy! |

Congratulations indeed! Until about 1997, for most Epics, Orions and Rogues, you're looking at the Polyurethane Satin Natural Finish. So it's not open grain, just a finish that isn't horribly thick. Take good care of her! |
