I purchased this bass used in 1984. It's remained in my conditioned non smoking closet for the last 26 years! This is a 1982 US Made Fender Precision 4 String Bass made prior to CBS sell out to private investors! From Fender Site: V + 4 to 6 digits (U.S. Vintage Series) = 1982-1988 (neck date=exact year) neck date 6-28-1982 (may not be clear in photo) Text on neck says..R (for right hand I suppose) P Bass..(then someones intials) and 6-28-82 serial no. V014494 on chrome back plate This bass is in very good condition for a 29 year old. Neck is straight, frets are good w/no buzz, hardware good chrome finsh w/no rust! PUs are good, pots need a cleaning w typical little noise. Still has a good gloss finish w/no chekin however there are some player dings on upper back horn which are not noticeable in photos. Also a small buckle rash scratches and some scratches back side of upper horn. The back of neck still has gloss finish w/no player wear as I only gigged this bass for about a year before I started playing a G & L. (wish I still had that one too!) I put a brass pick guard on when I purchased it because that was the cool thing in that day! $2000 Firm plus $100 shipped w/ins.
