Should probably mention, I am located in Pittsburgh. Bass is also listed on craigslist with pictures. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/msg/2529672376.html |

> > > > Just a suggestion... Have you checked here with Mica on the file for this bass? There are certain details that seem unclear to me, like the "active/passive" switch, AFAIK Alembic does not work like that... also, a 4 position pickup switch should be neck/neck+bridge/bridge and eventually "off", the "Alembic tone position" would be instead the small toggle switch for activating what I think is a "Q" filter, whose frequency is adjusted on the chickenhead knob... but I might as well be wrong. I'd check with the Mothership those details... > > > |

Spoiler electronics are 4-way selector (chicken-head), volume (round), filter (round; sets roll-off frequency for low-pass filter) and Q-switch (mini-toggle; adds boost - 8dB? - at roll-off frequency). The first 2 digits of the serial number will give you the year (i.e. '86 would be 86Sxxxx) That's a nice top! Peter |

Thanks guys - obviously I'm not incredibly familiar with the finer details of the Alembic. My main bass is a Spector custom from the early 80's. This one I happened to get in a trade. I will check with Mica as well. Thanks again. |

I have a feeling the "active-passive" switch that you refer to is the Q-switch - the frequency boost might seem like it was switching to active, but it's all active! Beautiful bass, by the way! Good luck with the sale! |
