Those holes are not in the most critical area. If the 18 is in good shape it would be worth it . I have an 18" Gauss in an old Alembic A-18 cabinet and it really moves some air ! I have a 12" Gauss that resides in a monitor these days. I had a couple more back in the day that needed to be reconed that got abandoned when I moved to Boston.
