I had an Alembic Essence since 1991. I never was able to play on it like I would have liked (problems with my elbows etc...). It's been a while and unfortubately, I don't play very often. Is there anybody who could give me an idea of the price of my bass. I went on E-Bay but I wasn't sure of what I saw.

Thanks!

Hi there-

Condition, woods and options will matter on that bass. Can you say more about your bass, or even provide the serial number and the folks at Alembic can look up the exact details?

I just checked eBay, and a pretty well equipped Essence just failed to meet reserve with a bid of $1555. This bass had a superb flamed walnut top and side LEDs. I have seen some basic models from the early 90s go closer to $1000, and a custom with upgraded electronics and side LEDs among the options go around $2000. The high-end one was only an Essence in name because that was the most economical model to build that particular custom from.

Oh, and they seem to go for siginificantly more in Europe.

Thank you for your help! I don't have the details at the moment (I'm at work) but this gives me a good idea to sell it.

Thanks!!!
