From what I can tell the Pursuader has P/Jazz sounding pickups installed. I have a P-Bass now but looking for the Alembic sound, to which I so want to move up to. Any thoughts on this Spoiler little brother? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Alembic-Pursuader-/220906608763?pt=Guitar&hash=item336f0f587b

I can assure you, Peter, the P-J shaped Alembic p/ups will not sound like your Fender! As to other aspects, as you noticed the Persuader shares the Spoiler body, which is my personal favorite - but this one has a proper crown headstock instead of a cone; if I had any disposable income right now, I would be bidding. I'd say go for it, and good luck. If you win the auction, report back (with lots of pictures).

I'll second that. I've got a Spoiler and I love it. the Persuader (I had one of those too) has a little different electronics but still pretty cool. If you have the dollars go for it, but these things can get pricey. The crown headstock rules btw.

In contact with the seller asking for the serial # which he came back with 35p3559. I ask back if it was 85P3559 as per usual Alembic SN#'s. He double checks and responds 35P3559. SN# located in the cavity cover? Any ideas I do have a bid on it? Thanks for any insight.

Sometimes the serial stamps don't take completely,
I bet the first three is an eight that was stamped shallow on one side.
[ I had a '78 bass, was hoping it was a '73 .;) ]

Didn't get her. But learned alot about E-Bay auctions. She would have perfect for me. Oh well. Thank you everyone for all your input. This is truly a great board.
