http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3740816341 This is a bass that someone had for auction out of Australia a month or so ago. Same description, same pictures. I am contacting the eBay seller, who is on a brand new account, to validate the sale. He has one feedback from another brand new eBay account and is looking for a cash-type payment. The evidence is circumstantial, but worthy of caution. I have no other real knowledge of this thing, so buyer beware. Who knows, maybe this guy bought it from Australia and doesn't like it. -Bob |

Good point. I've never gotten stuck, but I've acted very cagy in situations like that. I think I've protected myself in a few cases (Yes, the majority of buyers and sellers are good, but it only takes 1 bad actor + your money...). Let's stay safe out there. Bill |

I also recognised this, especially the sentence "The finish on the body has the scaling associated with an Alembic of this vintage and certainly adds to it's allure" rang a bell. No reserve with such an expensive instrument? Caveat Emptor indeed! Wilfred |

Seems to possibly be the proverbial "Slippery Weasel". Forgive me if I'm wrong, but something smells, and my shoes are still on... Alemboid |

Sorry guys, I posted once, and explorer crashed. I brought it back up and tried again, to crash again, then tried to "refresh" and four posts showed! Sorry! Alemboid |

I got a response to my query about local pickup. The "seller", and I use the term loosely, claims to have been relocated to London and that he will ship from there. I wouldn't even try to buy this thing without an escrow deal. |
