This is a bass that someone had for auction out of Australia a month or so ago. Same description, same pictures. I am contacting the eBay seller, who is on a brand new account, to validate the sale. He has one feedback from another brand new eBay account and is looking for a cash-type payment. The evidence is circumstantial, but worthy of caution.

I have no other real knowledge of this thing, so buyer beware. Who knows, maybe this guy bought it from Australia and doesn't like it.

Good point. I've never gotten stuck, but I've acted very cagy in situations like that. I think I've protected myself in a few cases (Yes, the majority of buyers and sellers are good, but it only takes 1 bad actor + your money...).

Let's stay safe out there.

I also recognised this, especially the sentence "The finish on the body has the scaling associated with an Alembic of this vintage and certainly adds to it's allure" rang a bell. No reserve with such an expensive instrument? Caveat Emptor indeed!

Seems to possibly be the proverbial "Slippery Weasel". Forgive me if I'm wrong, but something smells, and my shoes are still on...

Sorry guys, I posted once, and explorer crashed. I brought it back up and tried again, to crash again, then tried to "refresh" and four posts showed! Sorry!

I got a response to my query about local pickup. The "seller", and I use the term loosely, claims to have been relocated to London and that he will ship from there. I wouldn't even try to buy this thing without an escrow deal.

Seems to have disappeared... shame, looked a nice example too.
